Meet Rachel, your writing partner
I have always been a lover of language. An early affinity for reading led to a confidence in writing that I honed at the Lawrenceville School, from which I graduated with High Honors. In college, I studied Spanish and Japanese, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Linguistics from the University of Pennsylvania.
I enjoyed trying my hand at journalism at the Philadelphia Weekly as a fact-checking editor and contributing Arts and Entertainment writer. Later, I worked at Thought Incorporated, tutoring middle school, high school, and college students, and creating new reading and writing curricula. I taught reading comprehension skills, grammar, and how to write winning application essays for college and graduate school.
More recently, I have expanded my clientele to include adult professionals who need help improving their business writing skills, including resumes and cover letters. I get great satisfaction from encouraging people to learn who may have thought they were past the “academic stage” of their lives. Everyone deserves the opportunity to communicate their ideas through well-chosen words.
I also spend a good amount of time volunteering with Mighty Writers in Philadelphia, as a mentor and writing tutor for children in underserved communities. I happily work to fulfill the mission of the organization: teach kids to think clearly and write with clarity.
I believe that expressing oneself in written form is an invaluable life skill, no matter what one’s age or where one’s interests lie.
